Placeholders without a placeholder service
Hotlinked placeholder services put a third-party request on every page view and break when the service goes down. Here the placeholder is a file you own. Download it, or copy it as an SVG data URI and paste that into an <img src> so it is inlined in your code with no request at all.
The label accepts tokens: {w} and {h} are filled with the size, {ratio} with the reduced aspect ratio (1200×630 becomes 40:21). Guides draw a cross, a grid or diagonal stripes, so a placeholder is never mistaken for a broken image. Rolls change only the background colour; your label, guide and text colour stay put.
Need hundreds?
Bulk mode generates many placeholder or test images at fixed or random sizes, in mixed formats, with a filename pattern and a manifest.json, packed in one ZIP.
Reproducible by design
Every image comes from a seed. The address bar holds the generator, the seed, the size and only the settings you changed, so the link redraws the exact same picture on any device. That is useful for picking up where you left off, sending someone a design, or regenerating a file at a bigger size later. See how it works.
